Step 2 of my favorite water-color technique:
1. Watercolor, 2. Markers, 3. Stabilo, 4. Neo-color II
After your initial watercolor layer dries, add small touches of these water-soluble markers and activate with your water brush. This leaves an extra layer of color on top, giving more texture and detail to each piece you create.
