New Art/ New Shop!

New “Botanicals” Collection

Its been an honor to showcase and sell my art alongside dozens of other talented local artisans at Dwell Local since opening their doors in Rochester, MN in 2016. In addition to local creations, this unique, one-of-a-kind shop has so much to discover: from antiques to re-purposed, textiles to food, candles to chalk paint. Owner, Paul Bennett has such a talent for design and merchandising, you’re sure to leave with a fun new find and plenty of new ideas for your home that leave you saying: “why didn’t I think of that?!”

The success of Dwell Local, Rochester has led Paul to open a new store front in Zumbrota, Minnesota! Opening day is Saturday, September 7, 2019 (see Dwell Locals FB page for more details). I’m so excited to announce that I will be a part of this shop, as well! Dwell Local has really embraced and welcomed my style…I’ve always felt like it was a place where I can let my creative vibe go wherever it takes me. Thank you, Paul, for ALWAYS believing in me!!

Detail of the flowers painted on sheet music

With my new “Botanicals” collection, I was able to take my love of loose, folk-art like flowers and combine it with fresh shades of green and pops of black and white polka-dots. I used my traditional style of mixed media: combining vintage sheet music, patterned paper, acrylic paints and a watercolor pencil. I created the flowers directly on the sheet music, then after cutting them out, I adhered them to light gray painted 2″ deep wood panels. I then labelled them with a figure number using my signature hand-stamping to give it that botanical look. The final piece is sealed with a protective, archival clear varnish. Sizes include 5″x7″, 8″x10″ and 9″x12″ as well as a couple of butterflies in size 6″x6″.

Stamped “Figure numbers” for that botanical look I’m going for.

I can hardly wait to walk through Dwell Local, Zumbrota and see what magic Paul’s worked with the new location! And, I have to say, its always fun to see how he displays my art among all of the other treasures.
